DIALOGUE Center for Deliberative Democracy has successfully completed the “Empty Nest” project, with the help of Civica Mobilitas.

Within the project, which developed in several stages from August to December 2020, a series of activities were implemented, starting with the public opinion poll on the topic of mass emigration from Macedonia, in which 926 Macedonian emigrants participated. Based on the obtained data, the study EMIGRATION OF THE “INDEPENDENT MACEDONIA” GENERATION was published, by the authors Josipa Rizankoska (PhD), President of DIALOGUE, and Jasmina Trajkoska Naumoska (PhD), one of the founders of DIALOGUE. The study is published both in Macedonian and English, and is available on the website cddd.org.mk.

The findings of the research were presented with nine infographics that, along with other activities and engagements of the members of DIALOGUE, were published on the Facebook page of the organization.

A seminar was also held on the topic “Ways for citizen involvement in creating public policies at the local level”, attended by thirty participants, which resulted in interested volunteers who were later involved in the activities of DIALOGUE.

The artist Marija Koneska, whose art project “Empty Nest” was one of the motives to conduct the research, expanded and continued the project by setting up a new art installation at five locations in Prilep. The installation, along with the main findings and recommendations of the research, were presented in a promotional video made by domestic artists, which has more than 690 views.

An online promotion attended by 44 participants was held through the Zoom platform, where the video, installation and study were presented, followed by presentations by the research team, as well as a debate with the participants.

Furthermore, representation of the results of the study to more than 300 decision makers and political actors in Macedonia was realized. Letters of representation were sent to 16 ministries, 22 state institutions and universities, 40 Macedonian consular-diplomatic missions abroad, 38 embassies and international organizations in the country and 185 representatives of civil society organizations in Macedonia.
